Cork is a
material that is
particularly
well-suited for
laser marking.
The nature of
the material
allows a very
good contrast to
be achieved with
even low powered
lasers. A
common method of
processing cork
is to cover the
surface with
masking tape
prior to
lasing. This
eliminates any
burning on the
edges of the
mark and greatly
increases the
quality.
It is not
recommend that
the laser be
used for cutting
cork however.
The edges tend
to be a little
rough after
processing.
